5 Resorts for an Awesome Family Getaway

I have 5 siblings. With our 2-3 years age gap, picture the chaos in our house and the exhaustion my mom and dad experienced when we were dirty little brats. I remember we argue a lot — on who’s gonna wash the dishes or who’s gonna take my dad’s lunch to the plant he works or who’s gonna bathe our youngest brother or even on who’s gonna have the biggest piece of the divided viand. But behind the disagreements and bickering, I’m proud to say that we love each other.

While 3 of my siblings settles at our province, I’m based in Cebu, my brother is now in Ilo-Ilo and my sister is based outside my country. Thankfully, we have FB and Skype for communication but we still miss each other’s company. So imagine when all of us would gathered together during holidays or special occasions. It would definitely be messy and so much fun. Also, it would also probably be lively if we get to enjoy everyone’s company in a wonderful places aside from home.

These five resorts would be a great place:

1. Duka Bay Resort

3 hours drive from Cagayan de Oro City. It has rooms for overnight stays. Snorkeling and kayaking can be enjoyed here and I’ve heard this is also a diving site perfect to enjoy underwater world.

2. Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark

Located in Mactan, Cebu. One of the city’s best water park with 5 swimming pools, 3 water slides and beach to have fun in the water.

3. HaleManna Coastal Garden

Away from the city’s noise, this resort give you a chance to get up close and personal with nature. Perfect for snorkeling, dolphin watching plus be amazed with thousands of sardines swimming underwater.

4. Raymen Beach Resort

Giumaras Island, home of the best white beaches in Iloilo. My brother and sister-in-law recommended it for family get together. For a big family like us, this budget friendly resort will definitely suits us.

5. Mountain Lake Resort

Laguna, my home during my younger years. Got my first job here and learned “independent living” here. Anyways, as what Mountain Lake Resort’s website says, its a place where nature meets adventure. Would it be good to be back in this place not for work but to chill, relax and enjoy together with the whole family.

McDonald’s Grand Halloween Family Fun Day 2016

Surely McDonald’s Philippines knows how to make every member of the family happy as they celebrated McDonald’s Grand Halloween Family Fun Day last October 22, 2016. Mommy Bloggers Philippines and Jhanis, the MissusV, invited me and my family for this event. We were able to join the morning slot. Believe me, I initially thought it was just an in-store small event but I had no idea that it was that grandiose like occupying the whole activity area of J Center Mall’s 3rd floor. We were was not able to join last year’s event so it was a surprise. This is the second time McDonald’s Philippines hosted Halloween event here in Cebu.

We were busy preparing for my kid’s “costume” in the morning and in a hurry that we forgot to bring our orange pumpkin. Good thing that kids who signed up received their cape, pumpkin bag, and a hat to complete their overall Halloween look! They also enjoyed their 1PC Chicken McDo Happy Meal. My son was excited when he received the green toy car. He loves cars by the way.

The Grand Halloween Family Fun Day is McDonald’s way of promoting children’s well-being through fun and enriching activities that trigger their creativity and sense of play, and help them make new friends.

My Mom and Her Tupperwares

mommybloggersphilippines_tupperware

My mom was once a waitress to Hotel Mindanao, famous hotel in Northern Mindanao in the 1970s. But for some reason, business did not do well that the hotel had to close. She became a stay-at-home mom taking care of her 1 kid, which eventually became 6 mischievous kids.
With dad having no stable work at that time, my mom had to help like selling pancakes, fried bananas or fruits. She also became a member of Tupperware in hope of earning more.
Because she believes the product’s durability, in some cases, she had to double the work to avail freebies and of course get to enjoy the products as well. We didn’t have much in our house, we only have the essentials, so having some of Tupperware products was considered a luxury – my mom’s priced possession. There were those days that we are proud carrying our packed lunches with those colorful Tupperwares (even if it contains much rice than the viand :))

But an unfortunate event happened in 1991, our house was burned to the ground and it includes my mom’s reliable Tupperware stuffs.

While coping up with the incident, she slowly purchased again the ever dependable Tupperwares and one of those is the classic Salad Bowl – her ever durable and reliable partner.

This classic Salad Bowl is always present in all family occasions. Dishes like spaghetti, fruit salad, mango-tapioca were serve in this bowl. Not only during special occasions but also during preparation time for her small eatery. Nowadays, there are tons of  options to choose when purchasing food containers, still mom prefers these Tupperwares.
For her, they are indeed tough and dependable.

My ExpoMom 2016 Cebu Experience

ExpoMom2016-Cebu

MommyMundo has been very helpful to mommies around the country. Being a community, they bring together moms to bond, connect, share parenting stories and motherhood experiences. And with the community’s encouragement and support, moms never feel alone. More than just a community, Mommy Mundo also launch interactive exhibits and onstage activities through ExpoMom which pave the way for mom to be updated with the latest mommy and baby trends, new products and new technologies. More so, it is a gathering of mommies…of all kind.

Interestingly, this gathering not only happen in the capital but also to major cities around the Philippines. Last June 18, ExpoMom2016 visits Cebu and I’m glad I visited as I would have missed these things:

Bento Lunch Making
This is the main reason why I set my June 18 for ExpoMom. I really want to witness firsthand the actual preparation and creation of a Bento lunch. Bento pictures are so lovely that I wonder how long for moms to prepare just to have that beautifully crafted lunch. I plan to just watch, listen and learn. Next thing I know, I’m one of the participants. Me and Mommy Rose of Mommy Wanders was invited to join but when Mommy Rose went out from the venue for awhile, someone came and occupied her reserved seat before she can return. Every mommy seems ecstatic to participate :)

I was amazed at how easy and fast it is to make a bento lunch. Not a hassle if you have all the necessary foods and materials. I only need to unleash the creativity side of myself :) Goodluck to me!
